DriversNest — Privacy Policy

Trong Le, doing business as CodeWithTrong ("we," "us," "our") operates the DriversNest mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Summary (Plain Language)

  • DriversNest is local-first: your vehicle and maintenance data lives on your device by default.
  • We only collect and store data in the cloud if you subscribe to Pro (for sync across your devices).
  • Photos are never uploaded to our cloud, on any tier — they stay on your device only.
  • If you use the invoice-scanning feature, the invoice image is sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to extract text, then discarded — see Section 4.
  • We don't sell your data.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Vehicle data: make, model, year, mileage, VIN (optional), maintenance records, service notes, costs
  • Photos/documents: images of receipts, invoices, or vehicles you choose to attach to a record
  • Account information (Pro users only): email address, and authentication credentials (managed via our backend provider, Supabase)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Purchase/subscription status: managed through Apple's App Store and our billing partner, RevenueCat, to determine your entitlements (Free / Garage+ / Pro). We receive confirmation of your purchase status but not your payment card details.
  • Basic diagnostic/crash data, if applicable, to help us fix bugs (see Section 6).

We do not collect precise location data, contacts, or browsing history.

Local data is stored in an on-device database (WatermelonDB) and is not transmitted to us unless you are a Pro subscriber using cloud sync, and even then, photos are always excluded from sync regardless of tier.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with the following providers to operate the App. Each processes a limited slice of data solely to provide their specific function:

  • Supabase — backend database and authentication for Pro subscribers' cloud-synced data (excluding photos). Supabase stores this data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription and purchase entitlement status. Receives purchase receipts from Apple to verify your subscription tier; does not receive your payment details.
  • Apple App Store / StoreKit — processes all payments. We never see or store your full payment card information.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — if you use the invoice-scanning/OCR feature, the image of the invoice or receipt you select is sent to Anthropic's API to extract structured text (e.g., vendor, amount, date). This is done only when you actively trigger a scan. We do not use this feature to process your other vehicle photos.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above only to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
  • Sync your data across your devices (Pro only)
  • Process invoice scans you initiate
  • Verify subscription/purchase status
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve app stability and fix bugs

6. Diagnostics and Analytics

We do not currently collect diagnostic or analytics data beyond what Apple's platform provides automatically.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local data: remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
  • Cloud data (Pro): retained as long as your account is active.
  • Account deletion: You can delete your account at any time from within the App. This permanently and irreversibly deletes your cloud-stored data (vehicle records, maintenance history, account email) from our servers. Since photos are never uploaded to the cloud, deleting your account does not affect locally stored photos on your device — those are removed only when you delete the App or the underlying records yourself.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Export your data (available for free, in-app, on all tiers, at any time)
  • Withdraw consent where applicable

To exercise these rights for cloud-stored (Pro) data, use the in-app account deletion feature or contact us at support@driversnest.app. Because Free and Garage+ data lives only on your device, you control that data directly through the App's export and delete functions.

8.1 California Residents

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.

8.2 EU/UK Residents

If you are in the EU/UK, you may have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Trong Le, doing business as CodeWithTrong acts as the data controller for account information processed via Supabase.

9. Children's Privacy

DriversNest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encrypted transmission and Supabase's security infrastructure) to protect Pro users' cloud-synced data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Transfers

If you use Pro sync, your account data may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, depending on our backend provider's infrastructure.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or other reasonable means. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
